Staff Member at The Amwell wins ‘Hero of the Year’ Award

Colin With Hero of the Year Award

The Amwell is pleased to report that our Kitchen Assistant, Colin recently won 'Hero of The Year' at the group's care awards evening last week. The event was hosted by former Paralympian Danny Crates, and the award was sponsored by boxChilli.

The award was to be presented to an outstanding individual who has gone ‘above and beyond’ to help others. Colin has shown evidence of having:

  • Shown courage to achieve a goal
  • Gone to remarkable lengths to help others
  • Been an inspiration to many

Colin was described as having "a heart of gold and who shines in every aspect of his role as a Kitchen Assistant. When the home was without a Chef, under his only steam he took on the role of ordering the food, making sure all dietary requirements were met and ensuring that the food service was not impacted. He’s always available to help cover sickness and in his own time, he takes it upon himself to get specific food items requested by residents. He’s the life and soul of the home and even turns his hand to being a DJ for the residents' discos."

We think Colin was fully deserving of this award and we look forward to seeing him continue to make a positive change in our residents' lives as well as inspire others.

If you would like to learn more about our care services or facilities here at The Amwell, do not hesitate to contact our friendly staff who will be thrilled to help in any way they can.
