At The Amwell Care Home in Melton Mowbray, we are preparing to celebrate a very special milestone, as resident Barbara reaches her 100th birthday on the 14th of September. To mark the occasion, our team at is inviting the local community to help make Barbara’s centenary celebration extra special by sending her 100 birthday cards for 100 remarkable years.

A Life Rooted in the Local Community

Born and raised in nearby Burton Lazars, Barbara has always shared a strong connection with the local countryside and farming community. During the Second World War, she proudly served in the Women’s Land Army, working for A.H. Crane, before later becoming a farmer’s wife and continuing her lifelong connection to rural life. Family has remained at the heart of Barbara’s life. She enjoys daily visits from her daughter, who regularly takes Barbara out to enjoy time with other family members and friends, helping her maintain those important connections.

Help Us Reach 100 Cards

With Barbara's birthday arriving next week, we are excited to see the cards beginning to come in. We hope that the birthday card appeal will bring together people from across the local community to celebrate Barbara’s incredible life. Residents, families, schools, community groups, businesses and local organisations are all invited to send a card and become part of her special birthday celebrations.
