Our landscaped gardens are secure and well-maintained, making the ideal spot for our residents to spend time with their loved ones, go for a stroll around the grounds, and take in the natural beauty of the River Eye, which spectacularly runs alongside our gardens.

Whether you already have a passion for gardening or are just getting started, we encourage all of our residents to get involved in a variety of garden projects. There’s plenty of room in our gardens for them to do more of what they enjoy.

Enjoy a Spot of Gardening

All residents are encouraged to participate in as many outdoor activities as possible in our garden, from planting new crops to tending to those that have already begun to bloom. We love to see our residents amongst the plants and flowers and it’s beneficial to get fresh air and vitamin D on a regular basis.

Gardening at The Amwell Care Home allows residents to meet new people while also enhancing their sense of ownership and freedom.

Our private garden is the ideal setting for reconnecting with nature. Whether residents and their loved ones choose to sit back and watch the animals in their habitat, get lost in a book, or sketch the scene before them, there is something for everyone in The Amwell Care Home garden.

We encourage that all of our residents enjoy the peace and tranquilly that our gardens provide, as well as take advantage of the shade and truly feel connected to the outdoors.

Encouraging residents to have regular outdoor time lets them get fresh air, engage in outdoor activities, and appreciate nature. This offers mental and physical benefits like lowering stress and anxiety, enhancing overall mood, cognitive function, cardiovascular health, balance, and muscle strength.

Residents can enjoy walking, gardening, exercise sessions, and herb picking, among other activities. Weather permitting, they can also dine outdoors with loved ones, participate in outdoor arts & crafts, and enjoy live entertainment.

Indeed, our garden is designed to accommodate residents with mobility challenges. Wheelchair-accessible paths and seating are provided. The garden is secure with fencing and gates, and we’ve also taken steps like maintaining paths and adding lighting to prevent accidents.
