Our close proximity to local cities and towns including Leicester and Loughborough offers residents plenty of opportunities to explore and enjoy where they live. Abbey Park is perfect for getting some fresh air whilst being surrounded by a variety of nature and wildlife. It includes a sensory garden which is particularly ideal for residents living with dementia, or for just improving cognitive function. It’s a peaceful escape from the city’s hustle and bustle and a lovely destination for residents to relax with their families on a day out in Leicester.

For those who enjoy retail therapy, the mall offers a variety of shops, cafés and stalls for everybody to enjoy. Located just a short drive from our care home in Leicestershire, residents are spoilt for choice at the mall. It also allows residents to get out and socialise with others and explore the beautiful area they live in.

It is important to us at The Amwell Care Home that we play an active role in the local community and the Melton Mowbray Lions Community Hub gives residents the opportunity to meet new people and make lifelong memories. They have the flexibility to decide which activities or events they want to attend, as we believe residents should continue to maintain their independence after moving in with us.

Some residents have a love for history and culture, so a popular day trip for us includes the Melton Carnegie Museum. It includes exhibitions such as ‘Full Steam Ahead’, which displays an intriguing railway painting by a nameless artist alongside some other railway collections. Another exhibition includes a talk that describes the archaeological finds of an excavation carried out at Castle Hill Country Park.
