Positive CQC Inspection Reflects Our Ongoing Improvements Regarding Care Quality

Following our most recent inspection, our care home in Leicestershire has been recognised by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) for achieving three ratings of ‘Good’ across the key pillars of Effective, Caring and Responsive. These positive results reflect the progress we have made in developing a safe and supportive environment where our residents receive care tailored to their needs and preferences.

Regardless of whether someone receives residential care, dementia care or respite care, we believe that improved quality of life comes from offering consistency and reassurance that every individual within our community is valued. This inspection has highlighted how our team is continuing to build upon these standards across all aspects of daily life.

Safe

Safety remains at the heart of everything we do. The recent CQC report recognised the improvements we’ve made in protecting residents from harm and maintaining a comfortable, well-managed environment, while also identifying areas where we are continuing to strengthen our practices. We have since introduced new systems to enhance oversight and support precise medication management, including a digital medication management system that ensures every prescription is administered and monitored accurately.

Training and communication have been key priorities in this process. Our teams receive ongoing guidance to ensure care plans are fully understood and followed, especially when providing bespoke support. Regular reviews and audits help us maintain consistency and accountability throughout our care services, which also reinforces a culture of learning and reflection that places our residents’ well-being at the heart of everything we do.

Effective

We are proud to have been rated ‘Good’ in the Effective category and the CQC has noted that our care and support help residents achieve positive outcomes and a fulfilling daily life. This reflects the partnership approach we have adopted by working closely with residents and their families to personalise every aspect of care.

We make use of evidence-based principles to inform and guide how we provide our care. From nutrition and hydration to health monitoring and dementia care, we use recognised frameworks and work with external professionals to ensure residents receive care that encompasses their every need. All of our care plans are created in collaboration with residents and their loved ones prior to them moving in and their preferences and goals guide every decision we make.

Caring

Being rated ‘Good’ for Caring reflects our commitment to offering a compassionate and homely environment where residents can maintain their dignity and find joy throughout each day. Our inspection highlighted the warm, respectful relationships between our staff and residents, with kindness and empathy evident throughout the home.

Each resident is recognised as an individual with their own routines, interests and stories at The Amwell. Our key workers ensure care plans remain up-to-date and reflective of each individual’s needs. We are also expanding our varied activities programme so residents who prefer quieter settings or who stay within their rooms continue to receive meaningful and engaging activities on a one-to-one basis.

Responsive

We are delighted to have been rated ‘Good’ for being Responsive. This demonstrates that our services are well-organised and truly centred around residents’ needs. Feedback from residents, families and professionals shows that our communication has improved, with open discussions now helping us act quickly on suggestions or concerns.

Individual care plans are regularly reviewed in partnership with residents and their loved ones, and any changes are clearly communicated to everyone involved in their journey. We are committed to continuing to improve our accessibility and communication at The Amwell, ensuring information is always easy to understand and tailored to each resident's needs. Each individual who resides with us can enjoy peace of mind knowing they are truly valued and that any changes in their health or needs will be promptly addressed, with the appropriate actions taken to support them.

Well-Led

Our leadership was rated as ‘Requires Improvement’, which reflects the progress we’ve already made and the steps we are continuing to take. We are fortunate to benefit from having an experienced Home Manager to lead the home and have recently strengthened our leadership team with the introduction of a dedicated Deputy Manager. Through refining these leadership roles, we’ve created seamless communication across our teams. New governance structures and oversight processes are helping us maintain consistency and accountability.

Our management team has embraced a culture of openness, learning and collaboration to make our services the highest quality possible. Staff morale has risen significantly and we are proud to foster an environment where every team member feels valued and supported to grow. Regular meetings, supervision and training ensure strong communication and clear responsibility at every level, which in turn allows us to provide the best possible care to our residents.

Our Commitment Doesn’t Stop Here

We are incredibly proud of the progress reflected in our latest inspection and remain motivated to continue improving. The investments we are making in digital care systems, staff development and resident engagement are designed to strengthen safety and confidence for everyone who chooses our care home in Leicestershire.

Our goal is to ensure residents feel valued and supported while being surrounded by a team that genuinely cares. We invite prospective residents and their families to get in touch to book a tour and see firsthand how we are continuing to build a warm, inclusive community where every resident can thrive.
