Groundbreaking Dementia Training

At The Amwell Care Home in Melton Mowbray, Leicestershire, we have been undergoing some groundbreaking dementia training, with training for our staff and a number of resident's relatives, who were keen to get involved.

The training consisted of an immersive experience, where trainees were guided through a dementia experience, which left them with eyes open and a refreshed view of Dementia Care. Giving an in-depth experience as to how residents with dementia live.

We had a mobile dementia simulator bus visit our care home, which includes scientifically and medically proven technology, which allows a person with a healthy brain, to experience what life would be like if they had dementia.

As the leading dementia technology, we jumped at the opportunity to complete this training, ensuring we're providing first-class care that can change lives.

What was the purpose of this training?

We conducted this training to provide staff with a greater insight into what it is like living with Dementia, putting our staff in the best position to support and care for those living with Dementia Care at The Amwell Care Home.

Through this training, we've been able to provide first-class dementia care to our residents, as staff can become more aware of the simple changes that need to be made in their practice and environment to improve the lives of those living with dementia.

How did this benefit our team?

By having this training, both our team and the resident's relatives have reflected saying this was an "eye-opening" experience, which has given them a refreshed view of Dementia Care, and being able to support those around them.

It's important to us that we not only provide our staff with the latest training but that we also ensure that the resident's relatives are able to participate and learn alongside us. It is essential that we obtain and provide the knowledge and expertise to support their loved ones.
