A Day of Celebrations for the King’s Coronation

Our care home in Melton Mowbray was fully involved in the celebrations for King Charles' Coronation, from arts and crafts sessions to a wonderful community party.

We had a whole day of celebrations, starting with the residents spending time making their very own decorations including bunting. There were also plenty of conversations and reminiscing about the royal family, its history, and the significant impact it has made in many of our residents' lives.

We then had a visit from our local pre-school, Oasis, whose children came to visit our residents with their very own handmade crowns. Proud of their creations, the children took much delight in showing off their crowns for our residents to judge, and our residents equally enjoyed seeing their smiling faces and interacting with them. Both the residents and children then enjoyed a variety of games and getting to know one another.

Residents were then treated to a very special performance by our entertainer Chris, who came in with his guitar and performed many songs from the 50s and 60s. The residents loved listening to the music, and many got up to sing and dance along.

To celebrate King Charles's Coronation even further, our kitchen team put on a magnificent buffet that was fit for a king! The buffet included classics like pizza, sausage rolls, and sandwiches as well as cupcakes and even a themed cake which was very impressive to look at and even more delicious to eat.

To end our celebrations, our local performing arts school, Performing Stars Academy in Melton Mowbray' attended our home and performed for our residents, relatives, staff and guests.

All of our celebrations took place within the home and were held in both our garden and Bistro. It was a wonderful weekend of celebrations where staff, residents, relatives, and members of our community were welcomed to our home to share a special moment in history together.

The whole team at The Amwell Care Home are delighted with how our coronation celebrations turned out and we couldn't have asked for any more. The day was fun packed from start to finish and everyone had the best time.
