What to Expect from a Residential Care Home
A residential care home offers accommodation, facilities, and 24-hour personal care to elderly people and those who struggle to live independently. It also offers ‘group living’ and therefore is a great alternative for those who don’t like to live alone or are seeking companionship.
Care staff are available day and night in a residential care home and provide help with a variety of personal care such as washing, dressing, mobility, and communication. Unlike nursing homes, residential care homes only provide support for this type of care and low-level nursing needs. Community nurses and doctors can be requested to visit residents if more advanced nursing care is identified as needed.
Residential care enables people to continue living their lives but without the stresses of daily life. All mealtimes are provided as well as social activities, and additional medical services can be arranged, such as visits to a GP and physiotherapy. This is also regularly monitored and updated if necessary, so residents and their loved ones can rest assured they are receiving the care that’s right for them. We are always striving for the best for our residents, and our home is rated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC), who regularly inspects us and other adult health and social care services across England, to ensure we are delivering to a high standard.
No matter what age or interest, Melton Mowbray has an abundance of things to see and do for our residents and their visitors. Melton Carnegie Museum offers an insightful and interesting look into the history of Melton, including the Two-Headed Calf and Red House Door collections.
