Our residents had a tasty day out at the Artisan Cheese Fair recently, to enjoy the general spectacle as well as to sample some of the 300 artisan kinds of cheese on offer (of course!).
Over 60 of the country’s best cheesemakers and producers attended the festival from all across the country, bringing with them their best, often rare and most sought-after cheese to sample and buy.
In its sixth year, the Artisan Cheese Fair also included entertainment from a gospel choir, ukelele orchestra, and Morris dancers.
As well as cheese from many award-winning cheesemakers, our residents were able to sample traditional Melton Mowbray pork pies, cider, cakes, beer, chocolate, wine, and charcuterie.
Our Activities Co-Ordinator, Tina MacPhee said: “We aim to provide a wide and comprehensive programme of interesting activities and trips for our residents. The Artisan Cheese Fair offers something different and the chance to sample so many fine foods really involves our more ‘foodie’ residents.”
“Everyone was really looking forward to attending the festival as locally it’s a really big event. The entertainment was really good and our residents enjoyed the music and singing as well as the chance to see lots of people and have a fun social time – ad, of course, the delicious varieties of cheese.”
“We find our residents benefit enormously from events like this, allowing everyone to get out and about, socialising and getting involved with the local community really impacts on their happiness and wellbeing.”
